From Cria to Canyon: A journey in wool and wonder.

On February 14th, we welcomed a beautiful new cria into our herd. Her name is Val — a tiny, gentle reminder of new beginnings, love, and the quiet rhythm of life on the farm. There’s something sacred about witnessing new life arrive, especially in the stillness of winter, when everything else feels at rest.

Just a couple of weeks later, our journey carried us far from home.
We set off for Arizona — trading snow-covered fields for desert skies. As a family, we hiked through landscapes that felt both ancient and alive, moving from the mountains of Flagstaff down into the red rock energy vortexes of Sedona. The terrain challenged us with high elevations, rocky paths, and countless river crossings.
And through it all, something simple made a profound difference.
Our alpaca socks.

Step after step, they kept our feet dry — even as we crossed cold rivers — and somehow, unbelievably, completely blister-free. Anyone who hikes knows how rare that is. There’s nothing quite like reaching the end of a long day on your feet and realizing… your body feels supported, cared for, even in the smallest ways.
From desert dust to flowing water, those fibers held strong.

Then our journey carried us further still — to the ocean. We played in the waves, breathed in the salt air, and welcomed the shift from dry heat to humid coastal mornings. And again, those same socks wrapped our feet in warmth, holding comfort against the chill that seeps in from the sea.
It’s humbling, really.
To raise these animals… to nurture their fiber… and then to experience, firsthand, the way it supports and protects in the real world. From the birth of little Val on our farm to the vast openness of desert and ocean, it all feels connected — intentional.
A reminder that what we create with care, love, and patience carries meaning far beyond where it begins.
